THE FAIRY PONIES
Arosy boy once dreamed a dream
About a Fairy Queen
Who came and promised him a wish —
The best he’d ever seen.
He thought of things to pet and love,
Of stuff to eat and wear;
But last cried: “Two white ponies give
To take me everywhere!”
The Fairy Queen said : “They are yours;
You ’ll find them when you rise,
Each in its proper stable,
And each a living prize.”
The child awoke; the vision fled.
Alas! it was so sweet!
But he found the ponies in his socks —
His own two pearly feet.
